Local Resources

Here are some local resources that members of our group have found helpful.

We only take recommendations from ADHDers who attend our group and have a personal positive experience of the service mentioned. This is not an exhaustive list - it's deliberately a "starter" list to help people find their feet.

Worth noting: We don't have any ties to local private or NHS services and are not affiliated with the services listed below, so we like to regard ourselves as impartial - certainly we do the best we can! Please note that we are not medical professionals.

Not officially diagnosed?

Our recommendation is to join the waiting list. You can always decide what to do once you’re at the top of the waiting list.

Shared Care

GPs used to regularly offer shared care for ADHD prescriptions. It is now much more rare and depends entirely on your individual GP.

Ask them whether they accept, although realistically it's unlikely.

Self-screening tools

With both of the tests below, answer how you feel, not how you act, because the idea is to get to the true you, not as you feel society wants you to be.

Also these tools are indicators, not guarantees - for instance if you have both ADHD and Autism, some Autistic aspects can mask ADHD, and vice versa. 40% of ADHDers are now thought to also have Autism, whereas prior to 2013, it was thought that you could have one or the other, but not both!

Reminders

Medication, Dialectic Behaviour Therapy (if the practitioners adjusts for ADHD), mindfulness, exercise and ADHD coaching, all have proven benefits for ADHD.

There are no known food supplements/vitamins that have passed scientific tests for improving ADHD, but everyone still tries.
